What is Calisthenics?

Calisthenics is an exercise consisting of many movements which exercise large muscle groups. Such as Running, standing, pushing, pressing, pulling, gasping, etc. These exercises are all performed with your own body weight and with minimal equipment.

Calisthenics is an exercise that not to many people know about. People with this type of exercise do it differently. People for beginners start slow and make there way up, and the more fit people start at the stage they feel comfortable at. There are multiple exercises with calisthenics. Theres Muscle ups, human flag, pull ups, push ups, chin ups, sit ups dips, planche and much more. Anything that's an exercise and that's to do with your own body weight counts as calisthenics.

Why do Calisthenics?

People do Calisthenics for many reasons. But the main reason for calisthenics is to improve your overall muscle mass, and strength. Calisthenics is a good overall exercise because calisthenics is how your body would naturally move, so its all natural movements. Using weights can damage your muscles, tear them, give you injury's like back injury's, arm and leg. If you do weighted exercises at the wrong age, like over your head, you can ruin your growth if you do it at the wrong age. Calisthenics is good at any ages  if you learn the correct technique. Although Calisthenics will undoubtably increase your strength and size across your whole body, it won't increase your muscle mass in a similar way for weight lifting. If thats ok with you, Calisthenics is good for you!
